Many individuals would give anything just to be in Angelina Jolie’s shoes. But since only Angelina Jolie can be her, at least, in just one aspect, we can live her life.
Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt are the most famous clients of Filipino furniture designer Kenneth Cobonpue. Cobonpue lives his life in the Philippines, though he is constantly going out to other countries like the USA. It is not very surprising that Angelina and Brad loves Cobonpue’s crafts. Cobonpue manages a family furniture business in the Philippines and is also a designer for Ke-Zu in Australia.
The designs of Cobonpue are so unique and the materials that he utilizes are that commonly found in the country where he was born, but it is ironic that the furniture that he makes is very rare to be found in Filipino houses. The reason for this is that his crafts are too pricey for his countrymen.
Cobonpue made use of Abaca, the most common material found in the Philippines, to craft the Voyage collection. This involves a cradle-looking bed that is see through all over because the Abaca are hand-women on steel frames but are ribbed a bit apart from each other so that sight goes through the material. The design is very unique, incomparable with the bed designs that we see today. Complimenting this design is a sofa, also with an arced overhead back rest. A similarly designed real crib with very thin stilts is also part of the collection as well as an outdoor coffee table with a space in the middle of the stand to place the steaming pot of coffee, the jars of cream and sugar so that coffee mugs are the only items on the table.
Cobonpue made used of polyethylene strips, aluminum and nylon for his Oasis collection. Put the loveseat, the lounge chair and the side table together and the entire collection looks like a tulip. Oasis also has a version for the outdoors that includes a lounge chair and an outdoor coffee table.
The Wave is my favorite Cobonpue because it’s looks very elegant, very beautiful yet it looked so simple from afar, yet very meticulous up close. The Wave is a dining table with a glass top. It got its name because from the top, the base forms a wave. From the second floor, it would seem that you are just looking at a wave stroke. It’s just perfection! Cobonpue made use of four different materials to create this magnificent craft.
